Delicate
Take this situation between Boyd and Frankie, for example. They are attracted to each other, any fool could see that. Deep down, they both want it to happen, so much that it muddles their judgement and creates barriers where none are needed. They aren’t just worried anymore, they are scared. So instead they teeter on the edge of this something, this relationship, dancing around its edges like skittish children. But eventually it will all implode. It has to. And while the world around them waits with bated breath for this moment, when the inevitable occurs, they carry on oblivious, pretending they are safe.

An excerpt from our latest fan fiction by Auntieamy:
Simon walked up to the smallish man, now standing. The man’s slightly worn clothes were mused and his brownish-blondish hair stood out at all angles, the hair matching the five o’clock shadow he sported. He studied Simon much like a scientist studies a new bug.“What’s your name?” Simon asked.
“Brandon Colwraith,” the man replied, a British accent coloring his words.
“Why didn’t you stop when the officers told you to?”
“That’s my handiwork. I wanted to see if it had been appreciated.”
Simon stared at Colwraith for a long moment, not believing his ears. “Your handiwork?”
“The body in the boot of that car, of course. Why else would I be here?” Colwraith stated as if Simon was a bit slow and needed things explained to him.
“So, you’re confessing to murdering that person and stuffing the body in the trunk.”
Colwraith simply smiled.
“Well?”
“I’m done talking to you. The only person I’ll speak to now is Detective Superintendent Peter Boyd.”
Simon quirked an eyebrow. “And where, pray tell, does this Detective Superintendent Peter Boyd work?”
“London Metropolitan Police. Y’know, London, England?”

Frankie sighed and pulled the photos from Boyd’s hand, checking through them and placing them back in his hands when she was happy that she had located the relevant one.
“Notice anything familiar?”
Boyd frowned as he studied the photo.
“She’s laid out very formally.”
“Exactly. She’s laid out in a style that is consistent with our other bodies.”
“Could be just coincidence.”
Now it was Frankie’s turn to frown.
“I thought you didn’t believe in coincidences?”
“True.” Boyd pulled the glasses from his face and pinched the bridge of his nose. “There isn’t much though to link her to the others.”
“Give me time Boyd. Give me time.”

“A heavy silence fell upon the room. The call that they’d been waiting
to receive had finally been made and they could hide from the truth no longer.
Grace turned wordlessly and moved to stare out of the window. Whoever had said
that ignorance was bliss was right. All the time that there had been the chance
that the blood found at the scenes had belonged to someone else there had been
the smallest of hopes to cling to that Frankie would come walking in through
the doors and into the biggest rant about irresponsibility and insubordination
that she’d ever experienced. But now, now that the hard cold facts were staring
them in the face she had to finally pay some attention to the quiet nagging
voice in her head that had been trying to tell her that there was a very real
chance that Frankie was never going to walk through that door ever again.“
